Privacy Policy

Najm ICUCalc — last updated 9 October 2026 (app version 1.3.1).

Summary: Everything you enter (patient values, lab results, notes) is stored only in your own browser’s localStorage and is not sent anywhere unless you choose to use Smart Assistant. The app counts page views with GoatCounter, which uses no cookies and receives none of your entries.

1. Data we collect

A page-view count through GoatCounter. Each visit sends the page address, referrer, browser type and screen size to GoatCounter; it sets no cookies and receives nothing you type into the app. The count is skipped when your browser sends Do Not Track, on localhost, and when you are offline. There is no crash reporting and no advertising.

2. Data you enter

Patient data (weight, height, age, sex, creatinine), clinical inputs (blood pressure, ABG values, ventilator settings, scores and so on), free-text notes and display settings are stored unencrypted in your browser under the key najmICU_v2. This data:

Smart Assistant (optional). If you press “Open in Claude” or “Open in ChatGPT”, your question and the patient-bar context are placed in a link to claude.ai or chatgpt.com and processed under that company’s terms. Shift notes are attached only if you tick the box. The link also stays in your browser history.

3. Permissions

The app requests no runtime permissions. It does not access your camera, microphone, location, contacts, files, or health data.

4. Network use

After the first load, the app works offline from a service-worker cache that holds only the app’s own files. The only outbound requests are the page-view count above, links you choose to open (Smart Assistant, GitHub, email), and update checks for the app itself.

5. Children

The app is intended for use by licensed clinicians. It is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13.

6. Medical disclaimer

Najm ICUCalc is a reference aid — not a medical device. All calculations, ranges, and interpretations must be independently verified by a qualified clinician against institutional protocols, drug labels, and the patient's clinical context. The authors assume no liability for clinical decisions made with this tool.

7. Changes

If this policy changes, the update date at the top of the page will change. Continued use of the app after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
